Your friends can say a lot about who you are because your friends have a big influence on what you do and what you don’t do. If your friends exhibit good behaviors and make positive choices there is a good chance that you will participate in those good behaviors and if your friends exhibit at-risk behaviors and make poor choices there is a good chance that you might participate in those negative behaviors as well. What type of influence do your friends have on you? Ashling, age 18, KS. in foster care more than 3 yr I believe that my friends have a major impact on who I am! If they get upset so do I becasue, I care for them and they mean the world to me! My friends have both a negative and positive affect on me! In my past I have did very serious and painful things to myself and others, and my friends sometimes would encourage me to do these negative things. I than realized that those weren't the friends for me! Today I try to find friends that encourage me to do the right things that help me and others around me! Although not all my friends are positive I try to find a good side to all of them! I also, try to rub some of my attitude off on them so they don't think only on impulses. I try not to think on impulses either, but sometimes you just do. When I do think on impulses I try not to bring others down around me! My friends and I both have a good and negative effect on one another! lilygirl0213, age 13, GA. in foster care more than 3 yr I agree because if you have friends that do bad things around you it increases the chances for you to begin doing those things..... then the friends that do good things around you, you most likely begin doing them..... that happened with me, i have good friends so i do good things shaegirl, age 18, UT. in foster care more than 3 yr I believe that you make your self who you are, who you will be, and what outcome you will have on life. I was in care for reasons some my own actions some where from others. I believe peer pressure is a problem but you ultimatly have the choice to do what ever you do. I think you have options and you face the consequences which ever the outcome. niyabob, age 22, NY. in foster care more than 3 yr Peer pressure does exist and sometimes it can be negative and sometimes positive. I personally like to make my own choices, but advice and feedback is always good to just hear. Sometimes its really helpful.
